  • Why You Should Use Linen Duvet Covers

Duvet covers are used to cover comforters. There are many good reasons for using linen duvet covers, but primarily they are used to protect the comforter and they also can be used to fairly inexpensively change or enhance the décor of a room. You can find flannel, cotton or linen duvet covers in a variety of patterns, including solid single-colored covers.

Normally, during the cooler winter and late autumn months, a flannel duvet cover provides additional warmth and comfort but when those balmy spring and summer months roll around you will most likely want to switch to using a linen duvet cover. Of course, when it comes to linen duvet covers there is a variety available ranging from embroidered linen duvet covers to cotton linen duvet covers.

Aside from the fact that using a duvet cover can radically alter your room’s appearance, one of the more important reasons for covering your comforter is to protect it from body oils and to keep it clean and fresh. It is not very easy , nor all that practical, to have to be constantly laundering your comforter. Covering it with an easily removable linen duvet cover that can be simply thrown in the washing machine and laundered is definitely a better option.

If your room is ‘busy’ with a lot of different objects, wall decorations and other small decorative items, you may prefer to use a plain color such as a white linen duvet or perhaps a brown linen duvet, depending on how much traffic and use your bedroom gets. Children’s duvet covers are often patterned and many have favorite characters or sports teams or other logos on them. Younger girls seem to love the Disney or princess style covers, complete with frills!

While linen duvet covers may not always be that easy to put on a comforter, it is definitely a lot less work and much easier than having to frequently wash a comforter. Linen is a great material to use for a duvet cover, it is cool and it also allows your body to breath, thus adding to the comfort and quality of sleep you experience.
